Jharkhand Social Apostolate oriented on Caritas India Strategic Plan

Firmly rooted to Catholic Social Teachings, Caritas India has been working with her partners across the country to emancipate individuals and communities from all forms of poverty and disempowerment.

On July 24, 2018, Bishops, Forum Director and Diocesan Directors of Social Apostolate (DDSAs) of Jharkhand were oriented on Caritas India’s new strategic plan. The meeting discussed the importance of a new way of the partnership with Caritas India based on the principles of Animation and Dialogue.

Executive Director, Fr. Paul Moonjely, shared that the strategic plan is inspired from the ideology of Diakonia and its directions on social transformation. The four pillars of the strategic plan, Empowerment Animation, Dialogue, Volunteering and Giving Communities will run through all Caritas India programmes and interventions on different sectoral themes.

Caritas India has rich experience in operationalizing empowerment animation process at the grassroots level. The process strengthens the local knowledge system, community institution building, local self-governance, self-esteem, and appreciation of indigenous culture.

Dialogue is important for empowerment and development. Under Dialogue, Caritas India, her partner and communities will be transformed as an organization and agents of sustainable change by pursuing the process of dialogue with communities and other forces of development for the greater transformation of the society.

All the participants expressed their willingness to partner with Caritas India on empowerment animation and dialogue.
