MUSKAN: CATERING EDUCATIONAL NEED OF MARGINALISED CHILDREN

Rolls Royce, Caritas India and CAF India has teamed up to offer STEM methodology in schools for future engineers and technicians.

Speaking ahead of the project launch ‘Muskan’, Managing Director, Rolls Royce Marine India Private limited, Mr. Emand Vaz said “It is a great opportunity for Rolls Royce to reach out the poor and marginalized children in our society through CSR to cater the educational need of the children”.

He was addressing the students of K. Bholenath Ramdas Patil School during the launch of project ‘Muskan’ at New Mumbai on September 2, 2016.

“The STEM methodology will surely help children to come up with fear of subjects especially math and English that can help to prepare future engineers and technicians from this school” Mr. Vaz added.

Representing CAF India, Mrs. Paromita Choudhary said “STEM kit will help children to learn more innovative ways through games and plays which will help them to understand the subject very well”.

The project will enhance academic performance of children by using the STEM framework and increase the level of interest and participation of all children towards science technology and mathematics thereby promoting the selection of these subjects for higher education and career.

“It will build capacities of teachers, schools and NGO partner in addressing the needs of children specially the slow learners in bringing sustainable changes in the educational institutions through capacity building and systemic changes for continuation of the intervention after the project period” shared Mr. Melvin Pangya, State Officer- Maharashtra, Caritas India.

Mr. Vinod Ghorpade, a teacher from the school said, “This project has given a new hope to children about the education”. He specially thanked Caritas India, CAF India and Rolls Royce Company for the beginning of MUSKAN project”. He motivated and encouraged children to use this opportunity for their better tomorrow through STEM kit.

The project launch was attended by Managing Director of Rolls Royce, Ms. Anuja Kadian, Head of the Department- Government linkage programme, from Rolls Royce along with Fr. Paul K, Director of Caritas Mumbai, Sr. Betty, Ms. Paromita Choudhary, representative from CAF India, Delhi, school supervisor Mr. Vinod Ghorpade, Head Mistress Ms. Jyotsna Patil and Deepali Pimpale, and School supervisor Mrs. Bharghare from New Mumbai Municipal Corporation.
