Immediately after the earthquake and tsunami of 26th December 2004 Caritas India commenced relief and rehabilitation efforts in the effected areas in Andaman & Nicobar Islands. Apart from building intermediate shelters in the remote Campbell Bay area, Caritas has contributed family kits, primary school kits, gas stoves and water tanks to tsunami victims. Caritas India in collaboration with A&N administration has also taken up livelihood restoration and alternative livelihood schemes to support fisher folk and artisans. I express my appreciation of the commendable work done by Caritas India in the Andaman & Nicobar Islands
