U3 programme emphasized self-sustained communities securing their livelihoods by fostering climate resilient-cum-adaptive agriculture and livelihoods security through one of Caritas India’s Key Strategic Pillars (CI KSP) – Empowering Animation. To strengthen the CBOs and Local Governance at the village level, HASSS has organised the orientation of the U3 programme on 10th August 2022 in the new target villages Dubbacharla, Lillipur and Thanda and Subhanpur of Maheshwaram Mandal through Ujjawala, Hyderabad. The event emphasised the strengthening of the local Governance and CBO’s-Gram Sarpanch, ward members, Farmers groups, SHGs for a collective understanding of the project approached through CI KSPs. The orientation also aimed to motivate and animate the farmers to go for organic farming to enhance the soil and bring transformation into the agricultural sector. 120 farmers and 75 women participated in the orientation program.
Fr. Anthony, the Executive Director of HASSS with the guidance of His Eminence Cardinal Poola Anthony has initiated this programme in the said villages to bring light and life into the farmers and their lives who do not have proper guidance about the latest techniques of farming. It was a sheer interest of the above villages that made HASSS approach the farmers; there are about 500 farmers who are in the cultivation of the land in and around those villages. He further said, farmers are God’s who nourish and give life and sustain human life through nutritious food and promote the health of everyone, especially from deadly cancer which is posing a great threat to human life. He also said that HASSS in collaboration with Caritas India will support the farmers through linkage and networking. Mrs. Usha the State Program Coordinator of Caritas India has explained the functional dynamics of Caritas India and Misereor.
The three-organization sole interest is to help the farmers live a dignified life even amidst the darkest and unforeseen moments.
On this remarkable day Fr. Anthony distributed the national flags to all the farmers to celebrate 75 years of Independence Day, taking the call from our Prime Minister Narendra Modi-Har Ghar Tiranga, a collective movement to celebrate our Tricolor. The village sarpanch Sleeva Reddy and Upa Sarpanch and the ward members expressed their joy by expressing that they would join hands to promote organic farming.
