Development hinges on peace between faiths

Misconceptions and mistrust can be eliminated through regular dialogue between faiths to achieve true development and harmonious accord.

Dialogue eliminates the misconceptions among different faith followers to bring harmony and peace through their actions. Samvaad (Dialogue) a peacebuilding and reconciliation programme of Caritas India actively work with different stakeholders to dialogue on peacebuilding in the communities. The programme partners conduct several activities to create awareness and sensitize people from different faiths to bring commonality in their expressions when they come across people from different faith, belief, and culture.

Samvaad programme partners reinforce the collaboration and networks to promote one voice and one view on peace at the larger level. This was manifested during the dialogue on peace organized by the All-India Anti-Injustice Council (AIAIC) to sensitize people from different faiths. The meeting was called in the circuit house of the city where participants from different religions shared their valuable insights on promoting peace to bring people closer.  AIAIC is a regional forum of two thousand representatives from different faiths who believe in unity and peace.

For long we have been holding wrong perceptions about other religions which kept us aloof from them and made us more vulnerable,” said Abdhesh Kumar, Samvaad staff from Merrut Seva Samaj attending the meeting. He suggested that every person from different beliefs should communicate with each other so that they can learn about other cultures, which helps eliminate the preoccupied notions and beliefs that create disparity among people.

Giving the example of Mahatma Gandhi on his anniversary, he said, we should remember the valuable words of our father of the nation who believed in non-violence, as violence leads to discrimination and ends up in communal disputes.

He suggested raising the voice against any kind of violence. The people facing the reality of violence is too high and if it is not stopped then it will lead to any form of dispute creating a situation more devastating.

AIAIC National President, Mr. Pawan Kumar Sharma said that the cause of unrest in the society is due to injustice, exploitation, and atrocities. He insisted everyone to come on one platform by breaking the wall of caste and religion to avoid Injustice and tyranny and fight against Injustice.

Dr. Shiv Kumar, the Circle president of AIAIC said that society is getting divided due to wrong political vested mandates and some people are taking advantage of it. So, we must be aware and careful and maintain our unity and accord.

The meeting concluded with the consensus that this network will be more focused on removing mutual inequalities, promoting peace, and developing social integration so that any form of communal dispute can be prevented to promote communal accord.  It was decided that the forum will come together every month and will add more members to the dialogue on peace and create a violence-free nation where harmony and love will be the model for replication to other countries.
