Rolls Royce officially launched the Muskaan project for the slow learners at Dyan Jyoti Municipal School, Pune on August 3, 2016.
“The project will focus on children from poor marginalised section of the society who are deprived of quality education” said Ms. Anuja Kadian, Head of the Department- Government linkage programme from Rolls Royce.
The project launching was a part of pilot project planned for Delhi, Maharashtra and Karnataka. It will help children to study the STEM subjects (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) and show them the life-long opportunities.
The STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths) kit provided by Rolls Royce will help these children to understand science and maths very well through play and games. It will also help the students to choose right career in engineering and science field. Through this initiative slum children will get equal opportunity and provide opportunity to bring them into mainstream society. She shared the companies’ role of promoting quality education among poor children.
“Among 136 municipal schools in Municipal Corporation, we are privileged that Muskaan project was initiated in our school” expressed Mrs. Sharada Desai, Head Mistress of the school.
She thanked Caritas India, CAF India and Rolls Royce for choosing the school for the project.
Speaking about the various social development initiative of Pune division, Fr. V. Louis, Director, Pune Diocesan Social Service Society said Pune is reaching out to the poor and needy community and interventions in Satara with tribals.
“It is now time that we must give back to our society and work together for social cause” said Fr. Malcome Sequeira,, Vicar General, present for the launch. He motivated and encouraged children to use this opportunity for their better future.
Mr. Datta Sane, Local Corporator, congratulated the school, Caritas India and Rolls Royce for launching this project in the school. He expressed that this opportunity will help school children in learning and understanding maths and science through technology which will sharpen their future.
The program launch was attended by Fr. V Louis, Director of Pune Diocesan Social Service Society, Vicar General, Fr. Malcome Sequeira, Mr. Datta Sane, Local Corporator, Mr. R Kakade, Journalist from Sakal news, Ms. Stuti Kawade- representative from Pune, Rolls Royce and Mrs. Prabhavati Patil, Supervisor from Education Department, Mr. B Kadlag, President of School Management Committee.
