Samvaad Peace Club Children Driving Grammar of Peace

In an inspiring stride towards nurturing a harmonious future, Samvaad Peace Club Children have taken up the responsibility to promote peace and harmony within their community. Equipped with a deep understanding of the “Grammar of Peace,” these peace ambassadors are sowing the seeds of compassion, unity, and harmony.

Caritas India, under its Samvaad project, is incessantly connected with its peace promoters through different programmes on the ground to ensure communal harmony and peace in the communities. Similarly, the programme partner is also engaged with different groups formed under the Samvaad programme, where they are not only sensitising them but also preparing them for dialogue on peace in their area.

In this regard, another initiative was taken by Caritas India to hand over Peace Kits to the Peace Club children. The Diocesan Social Work Society conducted a day-long event to hand over peace kits to one hundred and thirty-five peace club children from two schools. The objective of Peace Kits was to encourage and engage children while learning and delivering the grammar of Peace in the community as a Peace Ambassador.

The Peace Club children are regularly sensitised on peace and harmony to contribute towards the development of society and transform them as catalysts to create awareness and sensitise the communities. These children are seen as agents of peace, with their prime responsibility and goal being to raise awareness among others about various societal issues while promoting the values of peace and harmony.

The children from the Peace Club took an active part in the event and learned a lot about the importance of working towards a peaceful and harmonious society. They also received Peace and Harmony Kits, which will help them continue learning about these important values. These kits will help the children continue learning about the important values of peacebuilding, create a sense of unity and understanding among themselves, and inspire them to be agents of change in their communities. Principals from both Schools appreciated this effort and said that this event is a valuable learning experience for the children and that it will have a positive impact on their lives.

The event was well attended by the principals, teachers, and students of J.P.R. Inter College and Suryabhan Singh Junior High School. It was a great opportunity for the children to learn from DSWS Director Father Ronald D’Souza about peace and its importance in everyone’s life. He said, “Our children can carry the message of peace across the country, and they will be the peace ambassadors.” He focused his talk on ‘living in peace, which is inside everyone. He shared how God has created each one of us in his image, so we need to save God’s creation and not spoil it.

Caritas representative, Mr. Animesh Williams, interacted with the children and discussed fake news, which is used as a weapon on social media platforms to create differences in society. He cautioned that it is spreading in society, intending to harm humanity. He also insisted children be on alert in this digital age and contribute to saving the lives of innocents from being trapped through communal strife.

These peace club children are regularly engaged through programmes where they are taught about various societal issues, such as discrimination, casteism, regionalism, and traditional ideologies. Besides this, they are also told to promote the values of peace and harmony, and they are encouraged to work towards a peaceful and harmonious society.

As these young ambassadors continue to flourish and inspire, the hope for a more peaceful and harmonious world becomes even more attainable. Samvaad’s Peace Club is indeed creating ripples of positive change, reminding us that it’s never too early to start learning the grammar of peace.
