Aligned with the theme “United in action to rescue and achieve the Sustainable Developmental Goals for, with and by persons with disabilities,” Caritas India’s initiative aimed at promoting understanding, dignity, and support for individuals with disabilities.

A series of impactful celebrations unfolded across different regions. In the Rani block of Kamrup rural district, Assam, about 150 Persons with Disabilities (PwDs), their families, and stakeholders actively participated on December 4, 2023. Caritas India’s Head Office actively joined the commemoration on December 4, honoring two distinguished guests. Fr. Jolly Puthenpura, Asst. Director, and Fr. Sushil Modi, Administrator, stressed the importance of fostering inclusion in society.
Kolar district’s three CBR Units celebrated on December 7, distributing assistive devices to 179 PwDs, including 10 special wheelchairs. Kerala State level Organization of Persons with Disabilities (OPD) of CI CBR – Kerala Confederation of Differently Abled (KCDA) gathered about 260 PwDs and stakeholders in Kottayam on December 9, with Mr. Monse Joseph, MLA of Kottayam, as the Chief Guest.
On December 12, 2023, the celebration extended to Kakinada district and the BOPD Tallarevu Mandal in Andhra Pradesh, featuring sports competitions and cultural events. Meanwhile, the two CBR Units from Nuh, Haryana, orchestrated a grand celebration on December 20, 2023, with Roop V K Jain Foundation officials and dignitaries in attendance.
These celebrations not only raised awareness but also provided a platform for individuals with disabilities to share their issues and needs with concerned stakeholders.
