Farewell Ceremony for Fr. Sushil Lal Modi, Administrator of Caritas India

On the 20th of December 2024, Caritas India hosted a heartfelt farewell ceremony to honour Fr. Sushil Modi, the esteemed Administrator, whose contributions have left an indelible mark on the organization. The event, held with profound respect and warm wishes, was an opportunity for staff to bid adieu to a leader who has been an inspiration and guiding force.

The ceremony began with a solemn prayer led by Ms. Anjali Kujur, Associate HR setting a reflective and reverent tone. This was followed by Ms. Monisha Majumdar, Program Associate- HADRR, who extended a warm welcome to all attendees. She took the opportunity to recount Fr. Sushil’s illustrious journey with Caritas India, highlighting his unwavering dedication, compassionate leadership, and the positive impact he has had on the organization and its mission.

Representing the staff, Mr. Raju, Associate – Admin and Mr. Bobby Koshy Lead – Administrative Finance, delivered heartfelt messages, sharing personal anecdotes, and expressing gratitude for Fr. Sushil’s mentorship and vision. They spoke of his ability to lead with humility, foster unity, and inspire the team to achieve remarkable goals in service of the marginalized and vulnerable communities.

A special video clip prepared by Mr. Patrick Hansda, Lead – PR and Communication, added a touch of nostalgia and celebration. The video encapsulated Fr. Sushil’s memorable moments, highlighting his achievements and the bonds he built during his tenure. It was a poignant reminder of the legacy he leaves behind.

In a symbolic gesture of appreciation, Fr. Antony Fernandes, Executive Director of Caritas India, and Dr. John Tharakan, CBCI consultant to Caritas India, felicitated Fr. Sushil with a shawl and on behalf of the staff, Ms. Gracy Boni, Associate – Admin Finance presented a card, signifying the deep respect and admiration the organization holds for him. This was followed by Fr. Sushil’s reply, a heartfelt message of gratitude and reflection. He expressed his appreciation for the support and camaraderie he received, emphasizing that his journey was made meaningful by the shared commitment and dedication of the entire team.

Fr. Antony Fernandes, in his message, commended Fr. Sushil for his visionary leadership and selfless service. He encouraged the staff to carry forward the values and principles exemplified by Fr. Sushil, ensuring that his legacy continues to inspire future endeavours.

The ceremony’s joyous culmination was marked by a cake-cutting ceremony, a moment of celebration and camaraderie. Ms. Monisha then delivered the vote of thanks, acknowledging everyone who contributed to making the event a success and reiterating the immense gratitude the organization feels towards Fr. Sushil.

The event concluded with a prayer by Ms. Babita Pinto, Head of Programs, invoking blessings for Fr. Sushil as he embarks on a new chapter of his journey. The atmosphere was filled with a blend of emotions—gratitude, admiration, and a touch of sorrow as the organization bid farewell to a remarkable leader.
