Program Associate – Water & Climate India Project

Job Description

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

  1. PARTNERSHIP MANAGEMENT: Manage partnerships for effective program delivery and improve program outcomes through networking and linkage building.
    • Coordinate with Caritas India partners working on the Water and Climate India project, facilitating regular reviews and productive interactions.
    • Support partners in networking on issues like water, sanitation, and forest conservation.
    • Liaise with like-minded organisations at district and state levels to add value to CI’s Water and Climate project.
    • Maintain strong relationships with the leadership of partner organisations.
  2. PROGRAMME MANAGEMENT: Support and guide partner organisations in the management of the Caritas India project in line with CI quality standards.
    • Lead the Water and Climate India project and provide technical support on public health, WASH, and prevention of water-borne diseases.
    • Ensure timely achievement of programme results and manage interventions through Results Based Management.
    • Ensure all reports from partners are received on time, error-free, and in an acceptable format.
    • Organise learning exchanges, result reviews, and events to showcase and disseminate project successes.
    • Support partners with thematic expertise on WASH and solar disinfection.
    • Develop IEC materials, knowledge products, and document best practices to enhance program reach and impact.
    • Coordinate research and promote innovation within the project.
  3. NETWORKING: Represent CI and collaborate with networks and organizations to increase visibility and influence policy change on access to safe drinking water.
    • Build CI’s reputation as a credible organisation in the field of water, sanitation, hygiene, and solar disinfection.
    • Assist partners in initiating advocacy efforts and joining or creating networks focused on water issues.
  4. HUMAN RESOURCE MANAGEMENT: Create a healthy work environment and assist partners in managing HR for effective project implementation.
    • Assist in recruiting suitable candidates and organizing inductions for new project staff.
    • Help partners define job roles and implement HR development strategies, including relevant training for project teams.
  5. STEWARDSHIP OF RESOURCES: Ensure ethical and optimal utilisation of all CI resources.
    • Safeguard organisational assets and ensure optimal management.
    • Conduct regular project monitoring to ensure timely activity implementation.
    • Ensure effective utilisation of funds and coordinate with partners to adjust resources for revised activities.
    • Ensure proper, accurate, and timely maintenance of financial accounts.

Programme/Partner Management: Strong knowledge of Water
Sanitation
and Hygiene (WASH) issues
especially in the context of tribal communities in Madhya Pradesh. Ability to translate knowledge into actionable strategies and implement them effectively. Skilled in conducting assessments and studies focused on WASH
with an emphasis on water-related issues. In-depth understanding of government responses
programmes
and schemes related to WASH
particularly drinking water. Knowledge of key stakeholders and like-minded organisations working in the WASH sector. Capacity to identify opportunities for partnerships with like-minded organisations to address drinking water shortages collaboratively. Proficient in applying Caritas India’s programme quality standards and Results-Based Management (RBM) principles in programme activities. Willingness and ability to travel to field locations for up to 40% of the work time. Interpersonal and Communication Skills: Strong interpersonal skills to influence and encourage partners and stakeholders to adhere to programme quality standards. Effective communication skills
able to present information clearly
concisely
and with the right level of firmness and politeness. Skilled in report writing and presenting information in a structured
clear
and concise manner. Ability to facilitate group processes
ensuring the achievement of desired results. Capacity to engage and collaborate constructively with others
leveraging individual skills to meet collective goals. Additional Requirements: Experience working in the WASH sector
particularly in rural or tribal regions. Strong communication and report writing skills. Willingness to travel for fieldwork.
