With the motto of “Joy of service” Caritas India also began their COVID response in the year gone by. Through the biggest emergency response in the history of Caritas India along with its partners fed a million mouths. Through the army of over 90000 volunteers from all sectors and spheres of life came forwards to render their support in the form of manpower and resources.

On the 73rd Death Anniversary of the father of our nation, we remember the service he did for the country. He truly lost himself in the service of others. Caritas India too since it’s inception is dedicated to serve the people in need.

On this auspicious day, Caritas India was honoured with “The Mahatma Award for COVID19 Humanitarian Efforts” The Mahatma Awards is to acknowledge and recognizes the organizations and individuals, who are working tirelessly and putting their humanitarian efforts to help the most impacted and to fight this pandemic with Mahatma Award for Covid-19 Humanitarian Efforts” The ‘Mahatma Awards’ were constituted and inspired by the spirit of Mahatma Gandhi in 2017 in the United States and national and international organizations have been awarded in New York City. More than 100 organization like IBM, GE Foundation, Microsoft, Google, Twitter, Vodafone Americas, Clinton Foundation, The Rockefeller Foundation, BNP Paribas, Phillips, Mckinsey, Merck, GSK, Save the Children, Grameen Foundation, J.P.Morgan Chase, Bayer (Covestro), Caritas India, Sulabh International, Plan International, Save the Children, Reebok International etc. have been awarded for their social responsibility work and sustainable business practices.

The world has reached an agonizing milestone and the loss of more than one million lives from the COVID-19 pandemic, It’s a mind-numbing figure and pain has been multiplied by the savageness of this disease. Yet one must never lose sight of each and every individual life, we can overcome this challenge. As we remember so many lives lost, let us never forget that our future rests on the solidarity of the people united.
