Caritas India partnered with Asha Deep Foundation (ADF) to support the underprivileged children in the community. The association is based on the shared mission of restoring the human dignity of the poor and marginalized.

Fr. Paul Moonjely, Executive Director of Caritas India visited the Asha Deep Foundation office at Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh to be acquainted with the organization and distribute gifts and hygiene material with the most vulnerable people of the society.

Asha Deep Foundation is a Non-Profit Organisation working for the betterment of the community for the past 35 years. Since its inception in 1983 by Fr. A.R. Rajamoney, the foundation has laid immense emphasis on serving society at large and impacting as many lives as possible. It has always aimed at holistic development of the community people exerting importance to all demographics equally. Over its long journey, the foundation has successfully launched its centres in five states of India (Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Haryana, and Uttar Pradesh). The foundation is running numerous projects placing special focus on Education, Health, Skills, Trainings and Placement.

Fr. Paul interacted with the Foundation Director, Mr. H.K Chetty, and Chief Executive Ms. Jyothi to understand the organization’s objectives and the work they have been doing over the years. Fr. Paul also briefed about the work of Caritas India in relation to the migrant worker at the place of origin and destination.

An interactive discussion was sparked over migrants’ workers, their rights & entitlement, and the response of the organization in the covid situation. The discussion and experience sharing were very enriching by the organization. ADF narrated how they took care of the people during the pandemic situation and how they have been helping the migrants to get a valid legal document of the place to avail the entitlements concerning the migrants. During the discussion, there was one meeting point on the theme of migration, where a prospect of future collaboration was explored to support the people.

After the interaction with the Director and Chief Executive of the organization, there was a gift packet and hygiene kits distributed to the most vulnerable family of the society. Fr. Paul handed over the gift packet and hygiene kits to the family members and the children of the ragpicker community. It was a good gesture of being one with the deprived community.
