In a resounding celebration of International Women’s Day 2024, eight Child Rights partner organizations spanning West Bengal, Uttar Pradesh, and Assam came together under the BMZ-supported Surokhit Shaishav, Child Rights program. This gathering wasn’t just a commemoration but a dynamic platform for women to amplify their voices, express concerns, and articulate aspirations, fostering a strong sense of solidarity among themselves.

With a strategic focus on empowering both women and children, the event catalyzed igniting discussions and actions toward safeguarding child rights. The participation of various stakeholders, including government bodies like the Anti Human Trafficking Unit, Border Security Force, and civil society members, underscored the collaborative effort to address the challenges faced by children, especially girls, in society.

One of the noteworthy aspects was the active involvement of women leaders from diverse backgrounds, such as Panchayet members, Gorkhaland Territorial Administration representatives, and personnel from Sashastra Seema Bal and Border Security Force. Their presence not only highlighted the significance of the day but also shared inspiring life stories of women achievers, emphasizing the importance of investing in women to accelerate progress.

Under the theme “Invest in women: accelerate progress” by the United Nations Women’s Day, participants delved into discussions on crucial topics like women’s rights, gender equality, and access to education. The event facilitated networking opportunities, fostering collaboration among government agencies, NGOs, and community organizations, amplifying efforts toward women’s empowerment and child protection.
