About the Programme: The influx of forcibly displaced populations (FDPs) from Myanmar in Mizoram and Manipur State of India has led to a humanitarian crisis, with more people still on the move and crossing over to the Indian side everyday. Built on a detailed Rapid Needs Assessment, the PROCAP intervention will support and strengthen the capacity of host communities to provide improved living conditions to FDP communities, through market support for local vendors in the form of food vouchers, food distribution for infants and children, young girls, and vulnerable adults strength end water and sanitation infrastructure and up grades increased awareness of hygiene and sanitation issues and practices and repairs to shelter sand living environments. The intervention will enhance the safety (including in potential Covid-19 spikes), dignity and rights of vulnerable populations fleeing violence in Myanmar, ensure the meaningful access to assistance based on need and without discrimination, assist them to access the services and support they need to recover from protection incidents, and help them to understand and claim their rights. The programme delivery is adapted in line with Covid-19 protocols and best safety practices and protection measures.
