This year’s DDC continued its tradition of equipping social workers with essential knowledge and skills. The comprehensive curriculum covered a wide range of topics crucial for effective social development work. Participants delved into areas such as social analysis, Catholic Social Teachings (CST), theory of change, strategic planning, and community mobilization strategies.

One of the unique aspects of the DDC is its focus on practical skills. Participants engaged in participatory learning exercises and field visits, allowing them to apply theoretical knowledge in real-world scenarios. The course also emphasized the importance of project cycle management, result-based management, and development communication – skills that are invaluable in the social sector.

Fr. Antony Fernandes, in his address, highlighted different models of social work and stressed the importance of addressing root causes rather than symptoms of societal issues. He encouraged the participants to apply their DDC learnings to make meaningful interventions in their respective fields.

The feedback from participants was overwhelmingly positive. Many expressed how the DDC inputs would significantly enhance their performance in their ministry. Sister Rani Maria, Fr. Esack Rayappan, Fr. Alwin D’Souza, and Fr. Rajan shared their experiences, thanking the resource persons for their invaluable knowledge sharing. The DDC participants handed over the report of DDC to Fr. Antony which was released during the concluding program.

Caritas India’s Development Dynamic Course has a rich history of nurturing social development professionals. Since its inception, the DDC has trained thousands of individuals, many of whom have gone on to make significant contributions in various social development sectors across India.
