Premdham Ashram transformed into an inspiring center of learning on July 8, 2024, as it hosted a transformative Youth Awareness Workshop under the Samvaad Peacebuilding Program. Organized by the Karuna Social Service Society, Kotdwar, a partner of Caritas India, the workshop aimed to instil values of peace, ethics, and career guidance in the youth.
The serene atmosphere of Premdham Ashram was invigorated by the presence of Bishop Vincent Nellaiparambil from the Diocese of Bijnor. His profound message on the importance of peace and reconciliation resonated deeply with the attendees, setting a positive tone for the day’s activities. Bishop Vincent emphasized that the youth should be ambassadors of peace and harmony in their communities, a message that found eager acceptance among the participants.
The workshop’s significance was further underscored by the presence of Fr. Babu George, Director of KSSS; Fr. Benny, Director of Premdham; and Fr. Shibu. Their participation highlighted a collaborative effort to foster a culture of peace among the youth. Their messages reinforced the potential of young people to act as powerful forces for good in the world, promoting understanding, tolerance, and conflict resolution.
Keynote sessions led by Mr. Shekhar and Miss Amisha from Don Bosco, Delhi, captivated the audience with engaging discussions on the workshop’s themes. These activities emphasized the importance of peace and harmony and showcased how the youth could contribute to nation-building through their multifaceted approach.

The workshop drew an enthusiastic crowd of students and teachers from various institutions, including Drona International School, Govt Inter College Najibabad, and local communities. Noteworthy attendees included Mr. Waseem Qureshi, Director of Drona International School, accompanied by teachers Miss Sana and Mr. Rahul, and teachers Mr. Tanveer and Mr. Anurag from Government Inter College. Their presence contributed to a rich exchange of ideas.
Nashra, a 12th-grade student from Najibuddaula Girls Inter College, shared her insights: “This workshop opened my eyes to the importance of dialogue and understanding in resolving conflicts. Moving forward, I plan to start a peer group in my school to help address disputes among students constructively.”
Shalini, pursuing her graduation from Ram Jain Degree College, said, “I’ve learned that peacebuilding starts with small actions in our communities. I will contribute by organizing monthly community clean-up drives and cultural exchange programs to foster unity and cooperation in my neighborhood.”
Mitali Pal, a student from Drona International School, was inspired by the personal stories shared by the speakers: “I will start contributing by my end, hoping to inspire others to join the movement for a more peaceful community.”
