Caritas India Hiring: Community Educator – Women Skill Development
Location: Sriperumbudur, Tamil Nadu Position Type: Work Contract
Reports to: Program Associate

Primary Role:
The Community Field Worker will support the implementation of women employability initiatives at the community level. The role involves identifying women for skill development, engaging families to encourage women’s employment, promoting health and well-being, and strengthening community awareness on inclusion, hygiene, and government entitlements. The position also requires coordination with frontline workers, community stakeholders, and maintaining proper documentation and reporting.
1. Community Mobilization & Women Identification
• Identify 150 eligible women and young women in the project area for skill training and employability programs.
• Conduct household visits and community meetings to mobilize women to participate in training activities.
• Provide counselling to families to encourage and support women’s participation in employment and livelihood opportunities.
• Promote gender equality, inclusion, and participation of women, including women with disabilities, in all project activities.
• Promote awareness on women’s health, safety, and overall well-being.

2. Capacity Building & Training Support
• Facilitate training sessions for women, caregivers, community workers, and family members on:
o Menstrual hygiene management
o Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) practices
o Preventive healthcare and physical well-being
• Support the organization of skill development and employability training programs.
• Assist trainers and resource persons during community-based workshops and awareness sessions.

3. Community Outreach & Advocacy
• Collaborate with NGOs, government departments, rehabilitation centres, and local institutions to strengthen project implementation.
• Support the organization of awareness camps and community events related to:
o Government schemes and entitlements for women and women with disabilities
o Protection against Sexual Harassment (POSH)
o Safeguarding practices
o Rights under the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (RPWD) Act
• Work closely with frontline health workers such as ASHA and Anganwadi Workers to promote menstrual hygiene and WASH practices.
• Encourage community participation in activities that support women’s empowerment and employability.

4. Community Outreach & Stakeholder Coordination
• Build and maintain strong relationships with community leaders, Self-Help Groups (SHGs), and local institutions.
• Collaborate with government departments, SHG networks, and local organizations to enhance outreach and participation.
• Support awareness sessions on government schemes related to livelihood, employment, and women empowerment.
• Coordinate with frontline workers and local institutions to ensure community support for women’s employability initiatives.

5. Monitoring, Documentation & Reporting
• Maintain updated records and databases of identified women and training participants.
• Track participation, attendance, and progress of women engaged in training programs.
• Contribute to monthly reports, case stories, and success stories documenting project impact.
• Support preparation of project-related documents, field reports, and data collection tools as required.
• Ensure timely submission of field-level information to the reporting supervisor.

Travel: Must be willing to travel and stay in project locations as per the Program need.

Qualifications & Requirements

Education:
• Minimum Graduate in Social Work, Rural Development, Women’s Studies, Public Health, or a related field.

Experience:
• 1–3 years of experience in community mobilization, women empowerment, livelihood, or health-related projects.
• Experience working with women, marginalized communities, and persons with disabilities will be preferred.

Skills & Competencies:
• Strong community mobilization and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to conduct training and awareness sessions.
• Basic knowledge of women’s health, hygiene, and government schemes.
• Good documentation and reporting skills.
• Ability to work with diverse stakeholders and community groups.
• Willingness to travel extensively within the project area.

Preferred Attributes
• Sensitivity to gender, disability inclusion, and safeguarding practices.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Familiarity with local language and community dynamics.
