Caritas India receives award for most promising programme

“Creating a strong business and building a better world are not conflicting goals – they are both essential ingredients for long-term success,” said William Clay Ford Jr. Executive Chairman, Ford Motor Company. With the same mantra Cause Because organized a platform to spark conversations among the corporate sector and the development sector over a cup of coffee, “Coffee for Cause” on 22nd June, 2018 at The Lalit Hotel, New Delhi.

“Community – Based Rehabilitation of Families living with HIV/AIDS” won the Most Promising Programme of the year award under the SDG category Health and Sanitation. Caritas India implements this programme with its implementing partner The Deepti Foundation, Delhi.

Caritas India together with Deepti Foundation have dedicated to make a meaningful, positive difference in people’s lives. It has empowered people, across our project areas to build better futures for themselves, their families and their communities.  The Most Promising Programme Award is a CauseBecause initiative to recognize and felicitate programmes that are complementing the efforts of international communities and governments to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

It brought together the achievers of diverse backgrounds to have conversations around sustainability and CSR. Ms Jenny Joy, Officer – Resource Mobilization & Development and Ms Lee Macqueen, Manager, Advocacy & Child Rights represented Caritas India in the programme. The first-panel discussion focused on The effectiveness of ‘behavioural change’ component in programmes focused at women. The discussion highlighted on defining and understanding women empowerment, roles men in the communities can (be encouraged to) play, issues that pose a challenge as well as hold the way to real change. The second round of discussion was centered around Measuring social returns on investment (SRoI) in development projects, the panellists Vijay Sethi, CIO, Head HR and CSR, Hero MotoCorp, Naveen Soni, Vice President, Toyota Kirloskar Motor, Lt Gen Rajender Singh,  Member, Governing Council Indo-American Friendship Association (ex-CEO, DLF Foundation) Ranjan Rayna, Director, chief strategist, CauseBecause agreed on Developing SRoI framework, indicators and evaluation process along with to have a Mechanism to assess and measure how programmes complement government’s schemes in order to maximize the SROI.

The discussions concluded by the final round of discussion by the panellists Dipanwita Chakraborty, Regional Director, Corporate Responsibility & Sustainable Development, Asia Pacific, Cargill, Abhishek Ranjan, Global Head, Sustainability and CSR, Brillio, Lt Gen. SM Mehta, Chief Executive Officer, The Hans Foundation, Robin Sarkar, Director, Shiksha Initiative, Shiv Nadar Foundation on Individual social responsibility (ISR) and sharing their organisational experiences how each employee of each corporate and NGO can make a difference.
