Sabal promoting Millets and Nourishing Communities at Azadi Ka Amrit Mohotsav

Sabal seized the opportunity at Mahasanskrutik Mahotsav in Amravati to showcase its dedication to nutritional security by setting up two stalls at the district-level festival. These stalls served as a hub for exhibiting and selling millet products, emphasizing their rich nutrient content and the benefits of incorporating millets into daily diets.

Mahasanskruti Mahotsav is a cultural festival that offers a week-long immersive experience of Maharashtra’s folk traditions. The festival includes stage performances, activities for all ages, and a mix of historical insights, artistic brilliance, and local traditions.This groundbreaking event from February 18th to 22nd, 2024, aimed to promote the consumption of traditional crops, particularly millets, as a means of fostering nutrition and well-being.

The program not only focused on raising awareness but also actively engaged in networking, lead generation, and collaboration with local farmers to promote millet cultivation. This multifaceted approach underscores Sabal’s commitment to addressing food and nutrition insecurity through sustainable solutions.

Distinguished personalities, including Ms. Navneet Ravi Rana, Member of Parliament, and District Collector Mr. Saurabh Katiyar, graced the event’s inauguration. Ms. Ravi Rana highlighted the festival’s significance in recognizing indigenous food systems, emphasizing the importance of sustainable food and nutrition practices.

More than just a promotional endeavour, the Sabal Project’s stalls became knowledge hubs, equipped with resources on millet processing and value addition. Over 70 exhibition stalls, including Sabal’s, were strategically placed, showcasing agricultural produce and value-added products of local farmers.

The festival, a part of the Azadi Ka Amrit Mohatsava, aimed not only to celebrate culture but also to serve as a catalyst for community connections, heritage preservation, and sustainable food practices. The Mahasanskrit Mahotsav featured diverse district-level activities, promoting cultural exchange, and environmental conservation, and commemorating India’s freedom struggle.
