Swaraksha Anti-Human Trafficking Program Observes the Share the Journey Campaign

Caritas Internationalis is calling the communities around the world to walk side by side with migrants & refugees as part of Share the journey’s Global Solidarity walk. By walking together, they will learn more about each other, build friendships & also send a strong message of unity to political leaders.

Share the Journey responds to Pope Francis’ call to promote the “culture of encounter”. By opening our hearts and minds to others, we strengthen our relationships and communities. We make our journey side by side and we also journey towards each other.

Under the banner of Caritas India Swaraksha AHT Program two Partners DSWS & DEHAT with several other NGO’s Like Save the children, Action Aid, World Vision India, HUM Child Line, NIEA, Gihara education Society, Yes, Foundation & different Youth Groups like AAG & migrants from different communities. came together in a Solidarity Walk which was flag off by the Member of parliament Candidate Dr. Neelu Satyarthi.

All Participants around 300 numbers walked together & covered 8 kilometers to & from which the total Walked kilometers were counted. Around twenty-four Km were logged after the walk to Share the Journey Campaign.

Coming together in a Solidarity walk was not only the purpose, sharing the journey with each other & the experience as a migrant their Challenges, their weakness, their Strength since they left their home town & shifted to work to recoup the wages for their living.

Meena Devi one of the migrants from the Lucknow community shared how her family migrated from the village in search of work & came to the city. Initially, it was not easy for her family to survive but gradually they learn to cope the challenges in the society  & also they started meeting municipal & Panchayat leaders through which they tried to overcome those hurdles. She still expects a lot of change in her situation. Caritas India had initiated a Global Campaign in the form of Solidarity walk a creating an Advocacy for Migrants along with the various stakeholders.
