The First International Development Dynamics Course started in Nepal

Caritas India inaugurated the 15 days long International Development Dynamics Course (iDDC) in Dhulikhel Village Resort, Nepal. Development Dynamic Course (DDC) is one of the signature programs of Caritas India with 49 DDC conducted at the National Level. This is the first international DDC Caritas India is organising with 23 Participants across 9 countries.

Catholic Social Teaching and spirituality of development, Project Cycle Management (PCM), Results Based Management (RBM), Social Analysis, People Led Empowerment/ Empowering Animation, Natural Resource Management & Climate Change Resilient Approaches, Community Managed Disaster Risk Reduction (CMDRR), Development Communications, Management of Development Organizations, leadership, Peace Building, and Conflict Resolution are the main content of iDDC.

In the Inaugural speech Fr Paul Moonjely, the Executive Director of Caritas India spoke about Caritas being faith-based which makes us different from any other NGOs or VWOs. Understanding the problem and situation and deal with the problem rather than debating it and mystifying it. That’s the whole meaning of incarnation and spiritual ethos. Being Caritas, we need to be very strong in our thoughts processes and to be in other’s shoes. Our overuse of resources resulted in the cries of the poor, causing them to be displaced, taking them to extreme poverty, only for the benefit of some.

Pope Francis Encyclical ‘Laudato Si’ also stated on Cry of God, Cry of the Poor and Cry of Nature.  Skin trafficking is in trend in Nepal and India borders and people has disregarded humanity. Attitude is important and unless you have the right attitude, you cannot be a Caritas. Once you are in Caritas and you are never out. Caritas is different as we are faith-based, and we need to be courageous. We need to change and convince and empower people at the grassroots level to take up ownership. Have the courage to help one another.
