He was addressing the mega launch of ’ATHIJEEVANA’, the Caritas India Kerala Recovery Programme at Bodhana Social Service Society of Thiruvalla, Kerala, and the partner organization of Caritas India on dated 23rd February 2019. Around 165 people participated in the programme.
The Athijeevan having literal meaning ‘Athi-means more and Jeevan means life’ i.e. more life. It is a programme for Kerala flood rebuilding, with an aim of fighting back to attain the stability after a setback. The purpose of this program is to support flood-affected families with Wash, Shelter, and Livelihood.
The program was jointly inaugurated by the Archbishop Most Rev. Dr. A.T Koorilos along with other dignitaries includes JPD Commission Chairmen, Adv. Mathew T Thomas, MLA, Thiruvalla. The program also witnessed the presence of Ms. Siby Paulose from Caritas India.
Rev. Fr Samuel Vilayil, Ex. Director, Bodhana welcomed all the guest and participants. The IGP program was inaugurated by Sri. Cherian Polachirakkal, the Chairman of Thiruvalla Municipality. In the inauguration ceremony, 100 goats (2 each) were given to the 50 families and 30 & 35 HH’s received shelter support money and water filters as part of the Programme. The selected beneficiaries of the response programme are the poorest and vulnerable families including families with elderly, single women and disabled persons.
