Bara Yalin learning new concepts in agriculture

Bar Yalin enjoys experimenting in her kitchen garden at Bar Pada Village of Lower Subansiri, Arunachal Pradesh by planting different varieties of saplings brought from Kerala.

All the saplings are alive and growing healthy in the garden. She is happy that the plants grown in Kerala can now survive in Arunachal Pradesh too.

In 2017, she got an opportunity to Kerala for an exposure to visiting Cardamom garden, Dairy farm, Paper garden, Pineapple Garden, orchid garden, Jasmine garden, Paddy field, Honey industry, Dairy Milk industry, Tea garden and many more.

During her stay, she collected almost all the herbs, seeds, saplings etc. She also met the experts at PDS, a centre where products are examined dried and packed for sale and for exporting abroad.
The Subject Matter specialist shared and explained the whole process of the centre.

The young middle-class farmer was quite interested to know about different types of sustainable agriculture practices shared by Itanagar Diocesan Empowerment Association (IDEA) team. She started following the suggestion given by the team during the training program.

During 2013-14, Bar Yalin visited Guwahati and Shillong for a Farm exposure supported by Caritas India FARM Northeast program. Bara Yalin was thrilled to learn and follow the farming system done at Rural Resource and Training Centre (RRTC) of Guwahati and Shillong.

During three days of stay at RRTC Shillong and GGSS Guwahati she witnessed various types of farming and all her questions were answered. She was the only farmer who had lots of queries among the farmers. Today she has fulfilled everything which she shows at the time of exposure and having sound financial support for her family.
