BUILDING CAPACITIES OF YOUNG SOCIAL WORKERS

“Listen to the cries of the poor, the nature & the God and to act fast to mitigate the cries” urged Archbishop of Hyderabad and President of TCBC Most Rev. Dr. Thumma Bala to the young social workers attending the 47th Development Dynamics Course (DDC).

Most Rev. Dr. M. D. Prakasam, Bishop of Nellore during the inaugural session expressed the aspect of the universality of human life and concern for the generations.

Commenced on June 2, 2016 at Montfort Bhawan, Hyderabad, the course will train 34 participants across India and Myanmar on various aspects of social development sector. Being the flagship course of Caritas India, it has trained over 2000 development professionals across India and abroad on various aspect of development sector.

Fr. Paul Moonjely, Asst. Executive Director of Caritas India shared that Development Dynamics Course is aimed at building up the capacities of young social workers for dialogue and attitudes for meaningful option for the marginalized.

Rigorous one month training will help the participants to imbibe the spirit of Catholic Social Teaching and social development skills into practice in their social apostolate.

The course offers skills of micro social analysis and macro economic analysis developed with practical experience, capacities to initiate, sustain and promote empowerment of the poor and oppressed, emerging concept of development and various approaches, strategies for community mobilization, awareness building skills, value base for social transformation, sensitivity towards women & development, skills to manage development organizations along with concepts related to disaster management, integrated natural resource management, approaches to development, peace and conflict resolution and project cycle management.

Fr. Anthaiahn, Director, Andhra and Telengana Regional Social Service Forum, Br. Varghese, Director, Montfort Social Institute, Hyderabad, Ms. Rupali, Catholic Relief Services, Fr. Pratap, Director; Hyderabad Archdiocesan Social Service Society were among the few dignitaries addressed the participants during the inauguration.
