Caritas India Welcomes New Executive Team with Renewed Vision

Caritas India is thrilled to introduce its newly appointed Executive Tteam, tasked with leading the organization towards a future of greater impact and innovation. This esteemed team, comprising of dedicated and experienced leaders, will bring fresh energy and spirit to Caritas India’s mission of serving the poor and promoting social justice.

Fr. Antony Fernandes takes the helm as the Executive Director, bringing with him extensive experience in humanitarian work and program management. His previous role as the Director of Uttar Kshetriya Samaj Vikas Kendra (UKSVK) showcased his ability to elevate organizational performance through teamwork and strategic foresight.

In his inaugural remarks, he expressed gratitude to the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of India (CBCI) for their trust in him and he emphasized the importance of humility and responsibility in leadership, referring a message from Bishop Emeritus Ignatius Menezes about the significance of remembering the Cross amid power and authority. Fr. Antony graciously acknowledged the previous leaderships of Fr. Jolly and Fr. Paul for their contributions to the organisation.

He was joined by Fr. Anil Crasta, the Associate Director responsible for Resource Mobilization. Fr. Anil brings a rich background of service, having served as the Director of Milagres Church, Itga, Director of ORBIT and Sevasangama (social service organizations), and currently as Mission Director of St. Paul Mission in Ekamba, Bidar district.
Completing the team is Fr. Sushil Modi, the Administrator of Caritas India, whose administrative expertise will ensure the smooth and effective working of the organisation.

Most Rev. Anil Couto, Secretary General of CBCI, alongside Fr. Mathew Koyickal, Deputy Secretary General of CBCI personally handed over the appointment letter to the new Executive Director during a special ceremony on 17 September 2024 at Caritas India office, New delhi. In his message, Archbishop Anil urged everyone to extend their complete support to the newly appointed team.

The combined expertise of the newly formed Executive Team is expected to foster a new era of growth and innovation within the organization, enhancing its ability to serve all communities across.
