“I may not see the world, but I want to learn and stand on my own someday,” says Niranjan Nageshiya, a determined young boy from Dumarpani village in Bagicha Block of Jashpur District. Born completely visually impaired, Niranjan’s world has always been shaped by sound, touch, and imagination but never by fear. His dreams were larger than the obstacles placed before him.
For years, his parents, Bhanwar and Manmuti Nageshiya, carried a quiet worry. They longed to educate their son but did not know which path could give him the opportunity he deserved. “If only someone could guide us,” his mother often whispered with hope.
That guidance arrived unexpectedly on 10th October 2025. During a routine school visit under Caritas India’s Khushaal Bachpan programme, Community Educator Hemant Lakra learned from the Head Teacher about a visually impaired child Niranjan who had never attended school.
Hemant immediately sensed that this was more than information, it was a responsibility. Without delay, he contacted District Program Associate Mr. Neeraj Kumar, who quickly coordinated with the Head Office to initiate support. The spark of a new beginning had been lit.

When the KB team visited Niranjan’s home on 14th October 2025, they found a child full of life eager to learn, quick to identify voices, and curious in every conversation. Though he could not see, he traced patterns on the ground with his fingers, trying to understand the world in his own way.
His parents shared their fears, “Will he ever study? Will he ever have a future?”
The team reassured them gently. They explained that children like Niranjan not only learn but often excel when given the right environment and tools. For the first time, his parents saw a path forward one filled with possibility instead of uncertainty.

The Khushaal Bachpan team contacted Manav Jeevan Jyoti School for the Blind in Kunkuri Kala (Batauli), a place equipped to nurture children with visual impairments. The school instantly agreed to take Niranjan under its care.
But Hemant wanted to ensure Niranjan would be fully prepared. On 5th November 2025, he visited the RAHA Office, Pathalgaon, and arranged a Braille Kit a tool that would help Niranjan not just study, but experience education independently.
On 6th November 2025, Niranjan stepped into Manav Jeevan Jyoti School for the Blind for the first time. His small hands held his father’s arm, but his face carried a quiet confidence.
For his parents, this moment felt like watching the first light break after years of darkness. For the teachers, it was the arrival of a child full of promise. For the community, it was proof that no disability can limit a child’s dreams.

Niranjan’s journey shows the power of timely intervention, compassionate guidance, and a family’s unwavering hope. Through the committed efforts of Caritas India’s Khushaal Bachpan programme, the dedication of educators, and the courage of a little boy who refused to give up, a new chapter has begun.
Today, Niranjan walks confidently toward a future that once seemed impossible.
His story now inspires families across the community to believe that every child regardless of ability deserves the chance to learn, grow, and shine.
