TIME TO ESTABLISH PEACE INITIATIVES IN INDIAN SCHOOLS NEAR INDO-PAK BORDER

Peace program will be implemented in the Indian Schools near Indo-Pak border to promote the peace and harmony among the people through school children.

The rationale behind implementing the project in Indian schools is to understand the internal issues of the region and strengthen the possible measures to establish strong network with people and Govt. Officials.
Time and again efforts were made by India and Pakistan to bring peace through schools children from both the countries. In the recent past, efforts were made to form peace clubs, video conferencing between school children and organized cultural exchange program in Nepal to foster peace building.

Supported by Caritas Italiana, the proposed peace project of Caritas India will be implemented in Jammu & Kashmir and Punjab. This time the project will focus on implementing the project in Indian School at the Indo-Pak bordering areas. CSSS in Jammu & Kashmir and Navjeevan Charitable Society in Punjab, natural partners in the respective region will initiate the project in the selected school children. The strategy includes formation of peace clubs, community outreach program and establishing network with local, district and state Government officials.
“The current socio-political situation will bring lots of challenges for the project but it is imperative to bring peace in the region” expressed implementing partners.

To strategize the project locally, partners meet was conducted by Caritas India on August 2, 2016 in New Delhi. The discussion was headed by Ms. Kindam, Zonal Manager – North, Fr. Varghese, Resource Person and Mr. Nutan, State Officer to prepare peace training module, developing blog for the updates, role of the peace club members, engaging local and district Govt. authority, peace message exchange meeting at the border areas with the Army officials.
