What we’re doing
Participatory Disaster Risk Reduction – PDRA
First step towards designing interventions for reducing the vulnerable and enhancing capacities of target communities. The final product of PDRA will lead to the development of risk reduction plan and contains specific interventions needed for reducing vulnerability and hazard and enhancing capacities.
Capacitating community to prepare their contingency plan
The process of establishing arrangements in advance to enable timely, effective, and appropriate response in the event of a hazard or a disaster. Technical support, tools and training are provided to the community.
Capacity building of PRI members
Preparatory Training at Panchayat level for orientation for the technical and methodological implementation of risk analyses and development and implementation of DRR plans is organized to build the capacity of PRI members.
Formation, capacity building and equipping the Task Force
Various trainings on task force group are organised for the voluntary emergency responders and action groups to adapt to climate change and carry out annual emergency drill as well as equipment for emergency relief in the village.
Strengthening the civil society network at different levels.
The Global Program aims to improve coordination between civil society and state institutions in implementing DRR plans and government policies. State, district, and block-level authorities are involved in regular meetings, and advisory services are given under the program.
Mobilizing village communities through public information campaigns
Aim to promote representative participation, good governance (civil bodies, CBOs, formation of different committees), accountability (people participate in the program) and Gram Sabha Meeting.
Preparation of action plans at community and household level to provide individual protection of the livelihoods of particularly vulnerable families.
In the Community Action Planning process people are the primary resource rather than the objects of development. This approach motivates the conflict and crisis-affected people to take the lead in the planning and implementation of reconstruction activities.
