Global Program India: Caritas India signs knowledge exchange agreement with Welthungerhilfe

Caritas India on 7th October 2021 made a milestone by signing a knowledge exchange and cross learning agreement with Welthungerhilfe (WHH) India for the Global Program India in the field of food security and nutrition programs in India and South Asia.

The agreement is designed to get a mutually agreed approach to implement the knowledge exchange and cross-learning activities between both organisations. This also includes cross-learning with WHH and their local partners in their programme areas in India, Nepal, and Bangladesh.

Both the organisation has mutual interest in the field of food security and nutrition programs in India and South Asia. This agreement will help in cross-learning through training and capacity building, knowledge exchange and exposure visits, networking & policy dialogue and joint initiatives like conference and pilot models.

Fr. (Dr.) Paul Moonjely, Executive Director of Caritas India signed the agreement with Ms. Nivedita Varshneya, Country Director of Welthungerhilfe India, saying it would lay a milestone in journeying together in the Global Program as we have many things in common in our aspiration, vision, our engagement in the community.

“Caritas India and WHH will work together to achieve the important thematic objective of the Global Program India by developing a network with like-minded organisations and parties on capacity enhancement, knowledge sharing, policy engagement especially on inclusion, nutrition and resilience building,” expressed Fr. Paul. He acknowledged Caritas Germany for being the binding factor between Welthungerhilfe and Caritas India which brings more value to this initiative.

Ms. Martina Appuhn from Caritas Germany shared about the feasibility study conducted for the Global Program India which recommended cooperation and exchange with the like-minded organisation. She mentioned that the consultants of the study recommended for network and create platforms as they are visible and helps the local community in knowledge exchange. She congratulated both the organsiations for fruitful learning exchange and collaboration.

Ms. Nivedita Varshneya acknowledged the experience between Caritas India and Welthungerhilfe and appreciated the organisation taking this effort to work together again under the Global Program India. She mentioned several prospective areas of collaboration between the organisations. She also shared a bit about the forthcoming exchange program under this new agreement in November 2021 at Jharkhand.

Dr. Jaison Varghese, Senior Programme Lead of the Global Program India shared about the program objective and the areas of cross-learning between both organisations. He shared about the areas of engagement that will not only benefit the organisations but also the local communities.

The Caritas India Global Program has made a constructive effort to bring on board like-minded organisations for capacity building of the civil society organisation, partners and local communities at different levels. Bringing together for mutual learning and building a network is an excellent strategy to bring collective change in society.
