Lessons of earthquake readiness shared with community on Earthquake Safety Week

Global Programme in Bihar joined the District Administration of Supaul and Nawada in spearheading a series of activities on public education on raising awareness to observe Earthquake Safety Week from January 15-21, 2023. This initiative fits into the prevention strategy promoted by the Bihar Road Map and is one of the outcomes of district consultation with the District Disaster Management Authority.

Global Programme partner, Muzaffarpur Diocesan Social Service Society (MDSSS), Bihar, organized a District consultation for the review of the District Disaster Management Plan (DDMP) on 10th January 2023 at Supaul. Representatives from the Disaster Management Department, Red cross, Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), and the commandant of NDRF participated and shared their roles in the revision of the District Plan.

As the programme completed 18 months landmark, it was time to review the progress and success of the Global Programme. A partner’s level review was organised for Bihar, Odisha, Assam, and West Bengal in the month of December 2022. The review was organised in two trenches for Bihar partners (from 23rd – 25th November 2022) and Odisha, Assam, WB partners (from 13th – 15th December 2022).

Nutritional and learning enhancement among children isn’t optional: the joint reflection ignited a discussion on Mid-Day Meal

It is a joint fact-finding study that has raised a discussion on the effectiveness of the control bodies in achieving the intended results of Mid-Day Meal (MDM) and other school development plans. The study ‘Mid-Day Meal: A tool for improving nutritional and learning outcomes among children’ was conducted in Bihar by Caritas India under the Global Programme.
